St. Margaret Mary Alacoque & The Sacred Heart & Blessed Claude de Colombiere.
St Margaret Mary O.S.U.was the first religious to begin a devotion to the Sacred Heart. She had a vision of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and was told to encourage a devotion to the Sacred Heart and to hold a feast in His honour.
Blessed Claude de Colombiere was a Jesuit who preached at the English court during the 17th century and was Margaret’s confessor and spiritual director.
BROTHER PATRICK
Brother Patrick is a De La Salle brother from San Francisco who has been assigned to Sarum College here in Salisbury to work for Ecumenism at the college.
Before coming to Salisbury he was Professor of Religious Studies at St Mary’s College California. He was invited to England by the Anglican Church to investigate the possibilities of establishing a College at Cambridge University, now Margaret Beaumont College of Theology. The first college for women run by women.
