| Most of this work is done through
Alabaré Christian Care Centres, which have been established
over 13 years. It required the vision and faith of only a small
number
(5) to get it off the ground but could not continue without the
prayer, love, care and support of a huge band of people. So huge
we cannot even count up those we have depended upon in this journey
to date.
The Care Centres now have over 175 paid and a further 90 volunteer
staff but there are the hundreds and possibly thousands who have
contributed funds over the last 10 years.
The Community Family of Prayer has now grown to around 32 people
from a few months to 80 years of age and all bring their own gifts
to our work.
The projects outlined show how our work has extended well beyond
the boundaries of Wiltshire into Bristol, Somerset, Hampshire and
Kennet.
Our work need not stop here. Indeed even to continue, it will require
ongoing funding, but it is not only financial assistance, we need
more volunteers. We need skilled individuals to help develop work
experience programmes. If you have time and a drive to help others,
then please come and talk to us.
We are enthusiastic about working with the Churches in Bristol and
Clevedon and hope that not only the Care Centres but also the Community
will be established there. We are focusing initially on working
with ex offenders, men recovering from addiction and women leaving
drug addiction and prostitution.
A special thank you to the growing number of Church Communities
throughout the South West who are supporting us in our work. It
is one example where working together we can make a big impact on
the massive problem in our country at present.
With our current pace of development this short history will be
out of date by the time you read it but we hope it gives you an
insight into Alabaré and all it does.
